So What Do Sugar Gliders Eat?
A proper diet is very important to the health and well being of your sugar glider. Proper nutrition is a very controversial topic among many glider owners. Gliders with improper diets can develop HLP (hind leg paralysis). The Ca:P (Calcium:Phosphorus) ratio of their food should be 2:1. Sugar gliders are omnivores and should be fed an approved diet along with fresh fruits and veggies each night. Some approved diets are HPW™, BML, and Priscilla Price Diet. The HPW diet creator now also has the HPW Plus™, HPW Complete™ and HPW Breeder Formulas™ Available. It is best to research each one, consult with your glider knowledgeable exotic veterinarian, and see what works for you and what your vet feels will be best for your gliders. Some diets consist of ingredients you can easily pick up at the grocery store, and others have things you may have to order through the internet.
The two diets I have experience with are HPW™, which I am currently using, and BML. My gliders loved them both and licked the bowls clean each night. I encourage you to look them over with your veterinarian and explore the other approved diets to find out which fits your life style best.

What Fruits & Vegetables Are Safe for Gliders?
A list of safe fruits and veggies is a great resource to have on hand. Remember that feeding only fruits and veggies is not enough. You must include these along with a good diet like the ones mentioned above in the Diet section.
Can Sugar Gliders Have Treats?
Mine LOVE Camillies Vita Mealies. Vita-mealies are a vitamin enriched meal-worm that has been grown using only the finest of organic ingredients (wheat bran, soy protein powder, calcium derived from oyster shells and the best Hawaiian Spirulina available) for your Sugar Gliders well-being. Treat filled straws. You can take normal drinking straws and cut into 2" sections and fill with treats and then freeze them. This make for a cheap and easy foraging enrichment for your "fur"babies. Some ideas of things to put into the straws are: Yogurt (no artificial sweeteners), watermelon, strawberries, unsweetened applesauce, or honey, you could even put some meal-worms in one and fold it into a triangle to hold the worms in there.
You can also get plastic Easter eggs or little treasure chests (for the tooth fairy) and hide dried fruits or meal worms in them:)
